Hi Wasana, welcome to this interview session of conflatingVisions. To begin with, please tell us a few lines about yourself.
I am a passionate traveller who needs to explore the beauty of nature and entertain the life up to maximum. I am a software engineer by profession and travel together with my husband and one and half year toddler. I live in Sri Lanka which is one of the most beautiful travel hubs in Asia and I want to share my locale travel experiences with the people and inspire them to explore the beauty of Ceylon. My mission is to let foreigners explore my country as a local with useful tips and guides.
What inspires you to travel?
Now I have definitely fallen under the travel spell. I couldn’t get rid of it. What’s inspired me to continue travelling and explore the world is my reading habit. I love reading stories and adventures and that drives me crazy to explore the nature as they are. That’s why I love travel blogging; I want to inspire people like I was inspired by the unseen unknown people’s stories.
I found something about it that makes me feel free and alive when travelling. So I will continue travelling till the day I could walk on my own feet.
Please tell us about your travel blog Girl from Ceylon.
Simply “Girl From Ceylon” is all about travelling tips, adventures and inspiring stories of a girl from Sri Lanka. Traveling and exploring is not easy at all because we are new to the people, places and the experiences we are going to explore. Therefore I want to let travellers explore Ceylon (Sri Lanka) as a locale. That’s why I am sharing my locale knowledge with them.
From my blog “Girl from Ceylon” the travellers could find travel tips to explore different places in Sri Lanka, transportation, places to be explored, rates and reviews of accommodations and everything else related to travelling in Sri Lanka.
How do you fund your travels? Do you wish to take it up as a full-time job in the future?
Travelling full-time is something I am dreaming and waiting for. For the moment, I am not a full-time traveller and do it when I get leisure time. I funded my travels with the money that I get from my present profession as a software engineer. Nowadays, I am looking into affiliate marketing kinds of stufffs for my travel blog Girl from Ceylon.

What was your most recent trip?
Last week, I went on a wildlife safari to Udawalwe National Park, Sri Lanka. The place is a best-guaranteed safari location for sightings of elephants. You are blogging on travel for quite some time now and must have come across a couple of memorable events. Please share a few of your travel experiences with our readers.
After the end of each and every travel or tour, we are packed with thousands of memories. But out of them, there are some incidents where we were trapped in to. Wandering a place in the eyes of a traveller to a place you have been before is quite amazing. Don’t you believe then go and see it’s the truth.
I have been to Galle for more than 10 times but after starting up my blogging I went there last month. I found thousands of unseen quite interesting places to be waiting for me to explore there. Those were there even years back but why I didn’t ever see them. That’s what makes you completely different from a normal wander.
So, I encourage travellers to explore their own city, own country and own people. They are amazing and it will be a wonderful experience after looking towards them how much they are interesting and stunning.
Which is the best place that you have visited till date?
Sigiriya Rock Fortress is the loveliest place I have ever visited. Sigiriya is a magical place and it lies in a forest surrounded by the exotic nature and blissful environment. It can be introduced as “A backpacker’s dream in Sri Lanka.” The architecture and the technology will just fascinate you.
Which are the top 5 destinations that are on your bucket list of travel?
Above are the destinations on my bucket that I would love to explore in the coming years.
Where will you go next?
My next destination would be Bali in coming December.
Anything else you want to share.
The life is gifted to you and one should enjoy it to the fullest. So, let it be in its mean. Collect the experiences and memories which you could memorize when you could no more go for it. Yes, many people try to accomplish properties but once done and looking back there is no possibility to explore the beauty of the world. So don’t let yourself to be so. Go and explore the world when you are able. Things are waiting to be explored by you.
And one last question of this session Wasana, if you have had one wish…
I wish I had more time and money to explore this amazing world even before. But no worries, now I am going to do it in the coming years and wish that best to happen tomorrow.
