Entire India had been eagerly waiting for the official launch of Reliance Jio services in the country for the past few years. The wait ended today when Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) announced the launch of the much awaited Jio services. In RIL’s 42nd Annual General Meeting in Mumbai, Ambani made some interesting disclosures that would definitely bring worries to the other existing telecom operators of India. Reliance Jio wouldn’t be charging anything for voice calls. Also, the announced 4G data tariffs of the company are much less as compared to its competitors. The disclosures would surely trigger price wars soon in the Indian telecom industry. However, this is a good news for the users who would ultimately reap benefits from the telecom fights.
Making a mark in the Indian Telecom Sector much before Jio’s official launch
Interestingly, although the services of Jio would be open for all from September 5, 2016, Reliance Jio has already become a telecom giant in India. A lot of credit for this success should go to Mukesh Ambani and his strategic team at RIL. Previously, the company launched the services for RIL employees. A few months later, they launched their flagship LYF mobile phones with Jio sim cards and bundled them with lots of free offers and services. Later on much recently, they entered into partnerships with many smartphone makers and offered their users free Jio sim cards bundled with the Jio preview offer. This strategy from the company helped them to gain a significant market share in the telecom sector even before their official launch!
The Reliance Jio (Website) sim cards and services would be available to everyone from September 5, 2016. Reliance Jio invites or preview offers are no longer required to procure the company’s sim cards.
Reliance Jio’s telecom network is built on a technology that is future ready.
It is India’s first all-IP network and migrating to the 5G and 6G network would become easier in future.
We are listing down some of the interesting disclosures made by Mukesh Ambani.
