It was only a few months back when we all were discussing about a Rs. 251 smartphone. Noida based Ringing Bells was the promoter of the smartphone which took entire world by surprise because of the price tag. The fate of the smartphone is still unknown to us. The company, however, is optimistic on delivering its promise soon. Last month, a Jaipur based company Docoss was in the news for similar reasons. They were offering a smartphone for just Rs. 888. The attempt to launch the ‘cheapest’ smartphone in the Indian market hasn’t ended yet. Bengaluru-based Namotel is now promoting their new android mobile phone “Namotel Acche Din” at a dirt cheap price tag of Rs. 99!
Well, if it genuinely happens, Namotel will surely disrupt the entry level smartphone market. If the company can deliver this smartphone at the promised price, then it would be world’s cheapest smartphone. However, we are still unsure about the company delivering on its promise.
The company’s promoter Madhav Reddy announced at a press conference that “Namotel Acche Din” can be pre-booked by only Indians with valid Aadhaar Cards from the company’s website anytime between May 17, 2016 and May 25, 2016. The smartphone is available on Cash on Delivery basis. However, we couldn’t open their website possibly because of the huge traffic on their website. We even tried a while back and it was still down.
Specifications of Namotel Acche Din
If the company’s promise is to be believed, the smartphone sports a 4-inch display and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop Operating System. It is powered by 1.3 GHz quadcore processor and 1 GB RAM. Namotel Acche Din has an internal storage capacity of 4 GB. The dual sim 3G smartphone is packed with a 2 MP rear camera and 0.3 MP front camera.
As per the company, the Acche Din smartphone is a Make in India initiative. Its original price is Rs. 2,999 and is presently available at this offer price.
