Kikbak, the brainchild of Dhanush Shetty and Keerthana Suresh started its journey in 2014. It recently received “The Best Marketing Start-up Award” for the year 2015-16 at the 2nd Indian Startup Entrepreneurship and Disruptive Innovation Awards 2016, Mumbai. Hi, this is Dhanush Shetty, Founder & CEO of KikBak founded in 2014. A Computer science Engineer from CIET, with an innate Entrepreneurial streak I launched this platform for great saving on every purchase. Kikbak currently has over 4000+ partners outlets across Bangalore and over 3 million offers are showcased through the platform.
Tell us about your venture KikBak Card. How does it work?
The Kikbak card is dedicated to saving customer’s money on anything & everything by finding the best deals whether it is going for a meal, shopping, booking a hotel stay, joining a gym, taking kids out for the day, hiring a van, grabbing a sandwich or going for a drink with friends; KikBak claims to have the best deals for everyone.
Kikbak currently has over 4000+ partners outlets across Bangalore and over 3 million offers are showcased through the platform.
Kikbak offers cashback to shoppers on transactions with partner brands in vast array of verticals. Kikbak through its cashback program aims at eliminating the hassle of inconvenience, rigid redemption options offered to shoppers.
Do you have any co-founder in your venture?
Yes, Keerthana Suresh is the other Co-Founder of KikBak.
What were you and your co-founder doing before launching your own venture?
Keerthana Suresh joined KikBak as Co-Founder on 2014. Prior to joining kikBak she was a Senior Business Analyst in Jinggling – the world’s first direct dialing app which connects through simple server technology. Keerthana also held positions in strategic planning, business development and product management in consumer interactive services at EnergyHelpline.com and MoneyHelpline.com.
Before starting Kikbak, I was a Business Development Manager at Digitech Communication Ltd., United kingdom which helps customers in saving their money on telecom, energy bills, shopping and online services.
What invoked you to think of creating such a platform?
Direct discount is fast becoming the next generation of loyalty programs, gone are the days when shoppers had to accumulate points as rewards. Unlike other offers and schemes, KikBak actually gives away real cash or discounts on purchases made by shoppers. Customers with KikBak cards are given discounts from 20-50% on their bills. Kikbak has partnerships with almost all shops/outlets including major brands across all the categories such as Restaurants, Hotel, Spa, Shopping Centre, Clothes, Bar, Pubs, Resorts, and many more.

What has been the most challenging part of your entrepreneurial journey so far?
Every Founder dreams to make his venture Big. But, it only comes with the support of all. To make Kikbak a brand we needed few major brands to be partnered with us.
Getting the top brands merchants like Pizza Hut, Subway, Baskin Robins on-board as merchant and provide discounts on their retails stores was most challenging.
How did you overcome the challenge?
We ensured the traction of customer visit and increase of footfall to the partnered outlets.
What are your future plans for growth?
Expanding to different cites like Mumbai, Delhi where the increase of merchants and customers will directly proposition to Brand Growth.
Dhanush, imagine a world without internet, what do you think you would be doing?
Initially, Kikbak was with module of Physical card where customer will get the card and has to visit the outlet to check for discount. Internet is the key for everything. It is like the Freedom for start-ups like us. We can explore and reach everyone through this.
